Shu-Fen Wu's Eco-friendly Interior Design: A Harmonious Blend of Nature and Comfort

Wu's design was inspired by the homeowners' desire for a stable and serene home environment. The house, located near the mountains, offers a quiet atmosphere, fascinating scenery, and fresh air. These attractive advantages led the homeowners to prioritize the public domain over the private domain. Wu responded to this preference by creating a design that maximizes the view and fosters a calm and relaxed atmosphere.

One of the unique features of Wu's design is the minimal use of walls. This approach not only broadens the view but also creates a more open and relaxed atmosphere. Backless shelves further enhance the sense of spaciousness. The use of sliding doors allows for flexible space division, catering to the need for privacy or other functions.

Wu's commitment to environmental sustainability is evident in the choice of building materials. Most of the materials used are environmentally friendly, including recycled stone skins for the walls, eco-friendly gypsum bricks, and recycled wood-plastic composites. This choice of materials not only reduces the environmental impact of the construction but also contributes to the overall aesthetic of the design.

The project, which spans 115.7 square meters, started in December 2019 in Taiwan and was completed in May 2020 in New Taipei City. Despite the challenges of designing a space that is both casual and elegant, Wu was able to strike a balance that complements the location of the house.

Wu's design is a testament to the power of thoughtful and sustainable design. By prioritizing the homeowners' needs and the surrounding environment, Wu has created a space that is not only beautiful but also harmonious with nature. This design is a worthy recipient of the Iron A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021, an award given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements.
